My favourite songworm

As regular readers will know I've been working with Charlotte Church quite a bit recently, as Tamara's styling her for her re-launch. A couple of weeks ago we did her re-launch single - Back To Scratch - which was released on Friday. Yay! So, as promised here it is. Hope you like, and agree that she's looking super-hot right now! Due to the fancy camera work we were quite limited in what Charlotte could wear, so she ended up in a Tamara-customised Uniqlo men's tee and Toppers belt (which I think she's working hard)!

Mark (the dummer/ glock player) lucked out though. He's wearing a beautifully cut silk-lined suit jacket, made by a fantastic new company called MyTailoredSuit. I may be a teensy bit biased (as it's the brainchild of 4 great friends of mine), but if you're looking for a stunning bespoke tailored suit (without the Saville Row price tag) then look no further....and if you mention me you might even get a special Sisi G dissie!!

Trench wars

I used to love a spot of arts and crafts when I was younger; I was forever creating bits of tat and palming it off on friends and family as presents - pen holders made of finished loo rolls, glittery pink friendship bracelets, and soap made of tissue (admittedly one of my stranger concepts). Then I grew up, earned some money, and started buying people actual nice things from actual shops instead, and my arts and craft days became a thing of the past...until now! Maybe it's because I'm freelancing and have much time and little money, but I was beyond excited when I heard that Comptoir des Cotonniers (that chic French brand with Zara before-they-got-really-over-priced prices) have launched a competition to customise your own trench coat. The comp is to celebrate their 15th birthday (and 15 years of their iconic trenches), and the winner wins a super-handy £850 to spend in-store (which would sort me out with a new wardrobe and a couple of non-hand-made pressies to boot)!

Now obviously with my prestigious arts background I'm probably going to win, but if you'd like to have a go 'just for the fun of it' check out the Comptoir des Cotonniers website for more details and the application form...and be quick, comp closes on 6th September! Happy creating!

I made a dress and I liked it....

Oh yes. This weekend I crossed the line from fashion voyeur to dress maker...well ish. To be honest I can’t really take much of the credit – it was mainly down to my fantastically talented friend Irena. Irena’s one of those incredibly irritating people who will wear something utterly beautiful and lust-worthy, and then when you ask her where it’s from will tell you she made it - grrrr. Anyway after a little hinting Irena offered to help me (and our friend Henri) get a little creative. Our journey started about a month ago with a trip to a fantastic fabric shop (the location of which I’ve been sworn to secrecy), where for once I was rather restrained and only brought one piece of striped jersey. Anyway, yesterday was Maxi-D day (as Irena named it), and was honestly the most fun I’ve had in ages….here’s what happened…

Inspiration A: Acne's infamous extreme stripe cotton-jersey dress, £120

Inspiration B: Helmut Lang’s mucho sexy side-split jersey maxi dress, £180

Moi practising my sewing skills. I can go slow and straight, and am most proud of this!

Irena making the pattern. I have absolutely no idea how she did this. It was like watching magic. No matter how closely I watched her I couldn’t get my head around it.

Cutting the material. I had a little go at this, although being jersey it was easier watched than done!

The final product – maxi dress heaven! I honestly couldn’t love it more - you likey?

Two sisters, one cat, a camera and 5 African outfits

Now – let me just make one thing clear – I’m under no illusions that I’m in anyway model material. Me and my sister Sophie did however get a teensy bit carried away on Sunday, and decided to do a little shoot so I could show off my new Zambian outfits…well it wouldn’t have been fair to shoot them on the hanger now would it!

Forget the high street....

Obviously I didn’t spend my whole time in Zambia sunbathing, eating mangos and drinking Mosi’s….I also managed to squeeze in a bit of shopping and a couple of trips to the tailors. African prints are going to be massive this summer, so I thought I’d seize the opportunity to not only get the real deal, but also knock up some show-stopping, one off, Sisi G outfits…

Nell and Granny took me down to Lusaka to by my Chitenge’s. Here’s Nell looking rather impatient and pissed off as I dragged her into the millionth shop in the midday sun to umm and ahh and generally be very indecisive.

This is me proudly grasping my 4 meters of fabric C19 which was later to become THE best jumpsuit in the world EVER! I thought it had something of the Versace about it....fabulous!

This is the treasure trove, Aladdin’s cave of a Tailors which Nell’s cousin recommended. She was so good I’ve already asked her to make my wedding dress (obvs might need to actually find a man first – minor details though)

They have look books of pictures of Nigerian women at weddings – they range from the outstanding to the outrageous…sometimes in the same outfit! I trawled about 3 books before falling for this pattern.

Ta-da! Here I am happy as larry in my dream jumpsuit during a fitting. Perfection, non?

God – it all really made me long for good decent tailors in London. Just before I left I got the hem on my maxi dress taken up at the dry cleaners opposite work, and was charged a f-ing outrageous £18 for the pleasure! To have 1 jumpsuit, a skirt, top, short dress and maxi dress expertly tailored in Zambia only cost £40 though….what a bloody joke!
